Tamara Waterston: Eat, Sleep, Play – Santa Rosa/Sonoma County

We’re standing with Santa Rosa/Sonoma County in their effort to bring travelers into their city after the tragic fires spread through a few weeks ago. The towns are open for business per usual and fresh green grass is already growing. We’re supporting their efforts in renewing positivity and bringing new energy into the destination. Beyond the burnt hills, the same beautiful countryside beckons you upon arrival. We encourage you to continue to visit and support the beautiful California green. See you there!

When it comes to finding accommodations in Santa Rosa/Sonoma County, choosing a location with easy access and that’s centrally located was of the highest importance. Santa Rosa is the largest city in Sonoma County and has everything your heart desires, including an airport, In-N-Out Burger (our first stop after the airport), Wells Fargo, and Starbucks. Our stay at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek was the perfect jumping off point.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a glowing fireplace, strawberry-infused water (a personal favorite), and a local wine tasting in the lobby. The Tuscan-style atmosphere at the hotel is clean and inviting. The rooms are newly remodeled and fresh as well as spacious. We began each morning with fresh-baked goods and warm coffee from the lobby’s lounge. Perfect start to a busy day!

My favorite part of the Hyatt is the sprawling lawn and flower garden. Vines wrapped around the walkways with the beautiful garden dripping in string lights. The hotel also offers a pool! Such a relaxing way to jump-start your morning soaking up a little vitamin D while reading or possibly winding down after a long day of wine tasting. The temperatures were quite warm so on an extended trip or a family vacation at the pool is a welcome refresher!

Take time to venture out on the hotel’s terrace. The fire pits are great spots to sit and enjoy an evening glass of bubbles with an artisanal cheese plate. The Sonoma sunsets offer the loveliest shades of pink and are not to miss. Such a relaxing stop before walking to dinner at one of the many restaurants located downtown.

We enjoyed dining at Starks Steak and Seafood, Lococo’s Cucina Rustica, and Riviera Ristorante. We are big fans of Italian food if you haven’t noticed! The atmosphere at each of these locations was cozy and inviting, not to mention the food! Make a reservation if heading to Lococo’s because the wait list is long and tables don’t open up quickly. Locals and tourists alike know it is worth the trip! Luckily, we bumped into a couple from one of our earlier wine tastings and they gave us their pre-booked reservation! It was fantastic and our top restaurant from the weekend.
