Spencer Albers: Making the Most of Your All-Inclusive Resort Experience

Hi, I’m Spencer Albers! I’m a photographer, marketer, and entrepreneur from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sun Country sent me on a #SCAGetaway to Montego Bay, Jamaica and we had a great time exploring and treating ourselves.

I had never been to an all-inclusive resort until recently. I didn’t know what to expect but let me tell you, I learned a few helpful tips along the way. All-inclusive resorts are fun and an ideal way to escape everyday pressures and relax.

Here are a few tips to get your vacation off on the right foot at an all-inclusive resort:

Book Restaurants Early

I had no idea about this one. I expected to eat in a sit-down restaurant every night but tables fill up fast if you don’t make reservations. Reserving a lovely spot for dinner is not hard to do and many resorts have apps, websites, and concierges who are happy to help make your dinner plans. I suggest, the day you arrive, head to the concierge and get those reservations booked. They will often ask your preferences and they’ll book accordingly.

Tipping

This one can be tough. Tipping is one of those things where every resort is a little bit different. Feel free to ask the concierge or the front desk for the tipping policy. Most often people appreciate a tip, but it may not be always needed. Keep in mind: the amounts may not be the same percentages as back home.

Room Service

You’re staying at an all-inclusive so treat yourself. Why not have some extra drinks later in your room or breakfast in bed? This is your vacation; so it’s important to make it what you want. Most resorts also have mini bars in the room that get stocked daily.

Grab Some Pool Chairs

Based on how busy your resort is, it may be a great idea to go out and grab some chairs early around the pool. Some people are very particular about getting the exact chairs they want but often times there’s plenty of chairs, you just need to find the right ones.

Bring Your Own Mug

Bringing your own large insulated mugs to an all-inclusive resort is the best life-hack I’ve ever discovered. Often times the drinks are in small glasses; by bringing your own mug, you have fewer trips to the bar and coffee shop.

I’m no expert in all-inclusive resorts but I’ll be back. It was a fun experience that made for a relaxing and an enjoyable trip.
