Hi, I’m Spencer Albers! I’m a photographer, marketer, and entrepreneur from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sun Country sent me on a #SCAGetaway to Montego Bay, Jamaica and we had a great time…though it rained a little. (Or it rained a lot but we were in Jamaica, so, either way, we were going to have fun.)
No one likes to think about rain on their vacation. Many of us put that kind of weather out of our minds and don’t even plan for it entirely. We’re racing away from the cold of Minneapolis and certainly leave our winter coats, let alone our raincoats, at home. However, speaking from experience, no vacation is ruined if you get a little rain.
So, you wanted to get a tan on vacation? Sorry, it’s raining. This is a great time to break out that book you brought you’ve been trying to finish for the last six months. Find a comfy chair in your room, on the cover patio, or in a quiet corner of the lobby and get lost in the book. Stories take you away to another place for a few hours and hopefully by then the rain has passed.
Many of us like to use vacations as a time to disconnect. Don’t let the rain stop that. It might be a tempting time to grab your phone and surf the web but if your goal was to get away from your life back home… your phone is probably not going to help that.
Remember how you worked hard on that beach body for your trip? Well, now is a great time to keep that up and look even better. Hit the gym at the hotel and feel good. Few things are better than a little exercise to put you in a good mood and feel healthy.
Rain might have interrupted your family vacation and the kids are getting restless… call the front desk. They often have board games, puzzles and more that you can borrow. It might be a good time for that four hour game of Monopoly or a crazy game of Uno.
Finally, don’t fret about the rain. Every warm tropical climate relies on a little rain here or there to stay so green and lush. Sit back and relax, you’re on vacation.
