Spencer Albers: 3 Unconventional Ways to Explore Montego Bay, Jamaica

Hi, I’m Spencer Albers! I’m a photographer, marketer, and entrepreneur from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sun Country sent me on a #SCAGetaway to Montego Bay, Jamaica and we had a great time exploring and treating ourselves at the Grand Bahia Principe. When traveling to Mexico and other Caribbean countries it can be a great idea to get off the resort and spend a little time in the wonderful country that you’re in. During my recent trip to the Grand Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, we also had the chance to explore Montego Bay.

Historic Sites

It is always great to learn a little about the culture and heritage of the places you visit. The world is full of diverse history and stories and traveling can be a great way to experience them. The Rose Hall Great House in Montego Bay, Jamaica is a Georgian mansion with a unique history. A short ride from many of the resorts in Montego Bay, visit the Rose Hall Great House as part of your next vacation.

Adventures

Jamaica is a lush tropical wonderland full of fun for the adventurous and the slightly adventurous. Sun Country works with Tourwise Ltd who helped me book my tours in and around Montego Bay. Most tour companies offer excursions to Dunn’s River Falls, Blue Hole, Secret Falls, and more local hot spots. For those looking to take their adventure up a notch, there are a multitude of options for ATV riding, horseback riding on the beach, zip lining tours and more.

Quick tip: make sure to read online reviews about safety and check with your tour provider, like Tourwise, to ensure you’re in the best hands while having fun.

Shopping

A fun day walking around the little shopping districts of Montego Bay, Jamaica, can be a fun add-on to most excursions from your resorts. As with most Caribbean countries, you can find a plethora of local foods, unique gifts, and of course sea shells galore. Shopping for a few fun things on any vacation is a great way to take a little of the country home with you.
