All-inclusive vacations should be about ease and having everything you want in one place, and that’s something that the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort in Riviera Maya definitely delivers. In fact, it’s really a resort complex comprised of four hotel sections (Barcelo Maya Beach, Maya Caribe, Maya Colonial, and Maya Tropical) that all include the same great benefits within strolling distance of each other. There’s no need to ever leave the resort.
Situated on one of Riviera Maya’s best beaches along a beautiful stretch of white sand, it’s hard not to put water activities at the top of the list. The resort offers complimentary kayaks, windsurfing, catamarans, water tricycles, and snorkeling, and has motorized water sports and a surf ride also available for an additional fee. If you’re more of a pool-goer, they’ve got you covered there too with (count ‘em) seven swimming pools on the property. There are four family pools perfect for kids, two that are semi-Olympic size, and one adults-only pool to choose from.
Perhaps one of the most unique elements the Barcelo Maya Grand has to offer is the on-site Dolphinarium, available only to guests. If you’ve ever wanted to swim with the dolphins, be a trainer for a day, or hug a dolphin, this is the perfect place for you. In fact, there are four separate programs allowing all types of guests to have an unforgettable experience. The enclosure is also certified by the European Association for Aquatic Mammals.
Never want to eat at the same restaurant twice on your vacation? You’ll have no problem with that at the Barcelo Maya Grand – there are 16 separate dining options. Half of them offer specialty a la carte dining, four are buffets, and four more are casual grill-style spots. Oh, and flavors span the board from Mexican to Italian to Japanese to seafood, just to name a few, so there’s something for every palate.
Here you won’t even have to worry about venturing out for souvenirs or scrambling to pick up a gift for grandma at the airport. Just stop by the Plaza Mexicana market to pick up some authentic Mexican handcrafted goods or stroll the luxury boutiques and name-brand shops in the Maya Mall to pick up a little something for yourself. (Pro tip: If you get thirsty while you shop, don’t worry. Just grab a quick drink at The Mall Bar while you’re there.)
A lot of resorts offer live entertainment and shows. This one does too, but there’s more! In addition to some pretty spectacular entertainment with one stage geared towards adults, and one towards kids, there are a few unique options. We’d suggest throwing a few games at Striker’s Sports Bar & Bowling Alley, dancing the night away at one of the nightclubs (there’s one for adults and one for teens), or checking out the newly redesigned 18-hole mini golf course.

Sun Country’s love of all things Minnesota and the airline’s focus on making everyone – from crew to passengers – feel right at home. If she were hopping on a flight tomorrow, she’d be headed west to Portland or south to Puerto Vallarta.
